Find a recurring charge you forgot and get it waived

A product newsletter writer asked Muse to scan a year of Gmail receipts for recurring charges. It found an idle cloud database he was still paying for and, after a first refusal, got the provider to waive the charges.

What they did

He asked Muse to go through twelve months of Gmail receipts and list recurring charges he might not be using. It surfaced a small monthly Google Cloud charge for an idle database, totaled it, and drafted a billing case that it filed after he approved. When Google said no, Muse drafted a follow-up.

How it went

The poster says Google waived the accumulated charges soon after the follow-up, during his first week with Muse.

Good to know

This is one anecdote inside a promotional listicle with a referral code, and part of the post is paywalled. Muse also does not follow up overnight unless told to keep checking Gmail.

A prompt to try

Search my Gmail receipts from <start month> to <end month> and list every recurring charge with vendor, frequency and total. Mark the ones that look unused, for example no logins or activity emails. For any I confirm, draft a polite billing request asking to cancel and waive past charges, and wait for my approval before sending anything.
